it depends on circuit, class, range of kart set up, range of driver ability/experience which would be the 'best' solution.

if he likes winning from the back there is nothing to stop him starting there (unless it get competitive on who wants to start last and show how good they are)

just remember that the more passes you make the more potential danger there is
