Experience has shown that you will get as much speed from a new kart for a novice as you will get from a paint job on his helmet.
Frequently any speed gain in a new kart will be entirely accidental. The difference in the handling will demand that one concentrates hard on driving, feeling very close to the edge. There's an immediate gain, especially as a novice.
If you went back to the old kart and set it up to be as different as the new kart feels, you find that it is just as fast.
