There is no necessity to have the engine on the left, a lot of success has been seen with `right` side engines. changing gearing is not major issue, perhaps a little tighter on chain lengths as you don`t get as much engine movement, you may need 2-3 chains if you run at diff circuits. On the day it`s easier to change the clutch teeth to a 19t if for instance it goes wet, of course this cannot be done on a comer as its a fixed size engine sprocket. Not sure about the Cobalt, but the Maky does work. John is offering these as a bargain price, these were destined for the non take up of the clubman class in S1. Affordable racing !
