Guys I really appreciate all the replies and so many in just a couple of days ! Really really useful. I've been weighing up two great options, one P1 and another Zip. The Zip is a 2012 chassis and only £250 more than the P1 however the P1 comes with more spares so, in the end I've plumbed for the P1 (2010) as this seems like a good first Kart and fits the budget (rather than stretching it). I've also spoken to the guys at P1 who seem like a very helpful bunch (not to say the Zip guys wouldnt be the same).
As mentioned by a couple of you I will check it thoroughly for cracks and straightness.

I am intrigued by the comments about setting up both on this thread and others. What adjustments can you make on other chassis' that you can't make on the P1 ?

Also what are the other 'must have's ' that I will need from the start ? Tools ? Stand/trolley ?
