If he is only 8 then time in seat and learning race craft will be more important than worrying about equality of the engines.
So much of the improved time will come from him.
If you are based in the midlands then there is an excellent chance that you will have Iame grids within a reasonable driving distance.
Otherwise I would look to see which class is most popular at your local circuit(s)and go with that. the great advantage of comer and honda is that you can pick up a decent club engine without spending too much whereas the Iame is only available new at the moment.
