We have had a `premier' class for years - comer w60 - the official british cadet championship engine.

We have also had the rule that other cadet engines should be slower - hence the restrictors put on the wtp and easykart when they came in. Over the years some honds appear to have narrowed whatever gap was originally imposed.

A difference of 1 second per lap will make grids dangerous?

Just look on the results section and you will see that in most races there is already over 1 second per lap difference between the fastest and slowest drivers. In October at Kimbolton (libra grids) the fastest laps ranged from 48.91 to 51.58 with 10 drivers being at least 1 second a lap slower. At rissington (also libra) the range was 48.15 to 51.98 and again, 10 drivers were at least 1 sec per lap slower.

Would you propose timed qualifying with anyone 1 sec slower than the fastest being banned from the race? As most races are only 10-12 laps you would need a very short track for the speed difference to matter. You could argue that any driver who gets lapped on a regular basis needs to take their ARKS again as they are not up to a reasonable pace.
