Going back to the original question, these were being advertised on Demon Tweeks website so a call to them would confirm if they are still selling them or perhaps why they stopped.

Overall though I would agree with Ian that there is no evidence that any neck brace helps prevent whiplash injuries and that if there was then the MSA would have made this known.

Over the years that my lad raced we saw lots of incidents with drivers going forwards/backwards into barriers and tyre walls, karts flipping sideways and even a full forward roll, landing on top of the drivers. Lots of drivers taken to A&E by ambulance and air ambulance but the drivers always seemed to be back out on the track within a week or two and they were not wearing neck braces.

In many of these incidents the helmets have been declared write-offs so that bit of equipment obviously did the job.

There have been a couple of threads on the forum where a parent has reported a broken collar bone where the driver was wearing a neck brace with a comment such as "I hate to think what would have happened if he/she was not wearing it".

The sparco blurb does mention that other neck braces sit on the shouldersw and could increase pressure in an accident so maybe this one is better.

I have been down the `concerned dad' route buying the sponge collar and a leatt but he did not like either and I would not force him to wear them.

It looks as if Kezz99 was looking at these to support the head around fast corners rather than suggesting they would have a beneficial effect in an accident.

An alternative would be to do some neck exercises to strengthen the muscles - many cadets who did not suffer in cadets have found the extra speed in junior classes requires stronger neck muscles.
