"I thought the "O" stood for open and that anyone with an MSA license can enter, it is the "GP" plates that require a National A license?"
The '0' stands for Zero, the plate better than "1".
The level of licence needed to compete in an '0' plate meeting will depend on the licence applied for and in some cases the words used in the SRs.
Rumour has it that one track applied some time ago for an 'O' plate event but the SRs stated that it was open to members of any MSA club, which the MSA pointed out made the event Championship "A" standard.
The difference? Novices aren't allowed to compete in a Champ A event and it costs more money for the licence.
