As a general rule (not always enforced) you are only allowed a vehicle in the paddock if you are working from it. You could have a driver who takes their kart on a roofrack and has all the tools/spares in the car.
Some have an awning attached to their van/camper etc.
Surely these have as much right to be in the paddock as the bigger awnings and race trucks. The roblem is with the vehicles not being used as a work base but people often do not tell the truth at the gate which leaves the volunteer officials to start policing the paddock - not the favourite job!
