anyone care to share general shore hardness findings from new/worn/old tyres?

I am about to shakedown a kart I have built for fun and have a variety of tyres to use.

Will old tyres be useable, but only for fun or will all the worn or old tyres be that hard they will mask the true performance of the kart?

All opinions, based on shore/ hardness test appreciated.

cheers
Brian P.
