Kezz - obviously this could happen and probably does/will if it gives an advantage. Once you get to the maximum piston size,the engine should last for more than one race - how often do you need to hone the barrel and fit the next size of piston?

Do you know what this would do to the overall cc of the engine? If it goes from 60cc to 70cc then I would expect it to make quite a difference but if it only takes it to 61.5cc then the effect would be less (but maybe still worth it for a top driver).

This could happen in any class especailly if the parts are available from a number of suppliers. About the only way to control it would be for the main engine importer to hold all the spares and only supply them on an exchange basis - i.e. send back the old pistion to get the next size up.

They could then have a class rule that you can not exchange the piston for one more than 2 sizes up and maybe even limit the number of times you can change the piston for any given barrel over a race season.

Overall though it is best just to enjoy your racing and don't worry about what anyone else may be doing - half of it is probably just paddock gossip anyway!
