And with that sort of thinking UK motorsport is doomed, because that is the most important role of karting for children. Just as it is the most important role of the federation and organisation of any sport that wants to see success on the world stage.
As for scouts finding what they need, I don't think so. Plenty of rich kids flattered by engines giving them, what in any other sport would be considered, an unfair advantage and parents willing to buy their way in. But real born talent, no way, the gene pool simply isn't big enough.
