The US seems to be where the prize money is with numerous organisers with big sponsors competing for entries. So for example for first place finishes;

PRD-PanAm = $5000
Rotax = $2000 for all qualifiers to the finals + $10000 to the first Team USA driver to win the Grand Finals
Vega Thunder Road Nationals - $5000
Rock Island GP - $2000
SKUSA Supernationals - $10000

And I haven't even scratched the surface. You'd have to carefully pick your classes but it could be possible to make money karting in the US (and some do).
