Should never have got to this point, see below from Gold Book, but AMB have let this happen with poor software for years, Alpha timing is very good and utilises existing competitor and club hardware:
  The ABkC and MSA has introduced transponder lap scoring. The nominated system for all ABkC clubs is the AMB TranX 160 system introduced from 1.1.2001. Every driver will be expected to own a transponder, although clubs may hold back up stocks for hire. Clubs not able to comply may apply to the ABkC for a waiver. Clubs wishing to make use of any MSA approved alternative transponder system, e.g. TAG Heuer, must firstly make written application to the ABkC Secretary for approval..
