Don't agree. Often observers will say, 'look at how awesome that engine is' but it really turns out its a combination of the driver and chassis set up.

As with all these things you need to take all your evidence together. So if someone is really fast out of the corner but runs out of speed down the straight and their rpm sounds higher then you can assume their gearing is larger. If they are really fast out of corners and they have good speed down the straight and their rpm sounds lower then you can assume they have the chassis hooked up and are just taking the corner faster and have better 'release'. If they are driving uselessly and you can see the 'bog' but the engine pulls them out of it then its could be engine, but its rare.

The amount of times i've heard the driver blame the engine is phenomenal.

'Release' makes that much of a difference.
