If I've got this about right, an ordinary engine is perhaps a bit above an out of the box, but without any serious money being spent on it. I'm not so sure what is special about a £4k engine, it's all about perceived value. So would a grand get you a decent Honda engine next year? I'm hoping the answer is yes, but as I said, until they start to get run in anger I can't be sure. I agree 2 seconds is a big time difference! I'm sorry Kezz, can't agree with you about that! The clubman/buyback rules are out there, but if clubs don't want to run them, what can I do? All I ever try to achieve is to make the Honda class as economic as possible to run in as a starter class. Let's just see how we get on, shall we?
