Parents do rush their kids. I witnessed recently at another track on the practice day, a parent putting little Jonnys kart down in P1 on the dummy grid ( little Jonny was a novice). The kid was a good 3 secs of the pace and looked totally terrified.

I nearly said something to the dad as I felt it was the wrong thing to do. However I believe people think that is how they learn? Personally I think they learn by going of the back and building their confidence up.
