In over 40 years of motorsport I have lost wheels on 2 occasions, First time a rear left on a Mk2 Escort RS rally car due to halfshat failure and the second on a Snr Max when a rear wheel parted company after the rim failed due to a contact on the previous lap with a spinning kart.
How anyone could have prevented either loss by any amount of pre event scruitineering is beyond me.
Unfortunately these things happen, the one you really need to worry about is a truck losing a wheel on the motorway, now that is scary!!!
