That is a very interesting article but it is based on motocross and it appears that they had quite a bit of data about neck injuries in that sport.
There does not seem to be that level of injury in karting.
Given the number of people who take part in karting and the number of years it has been around I would be very surprised if no one has broken their neck and there have probably been some fatal crashes. However, so far neither our MSA or indeed the CIK/FIA have considered it necessary to make any recommendation or rule about neck braces.
