it will be interesting to see in the MSA investigate it, but was it actually an MSA event where the girl got hurt, or just a testing accident, so nothing to do with the MSA???.......best of luck to Tilly, get well soon.

Back in mid 2014 a 10 year old cadet driver had a horrid full speed full-frontal crash into the barriers at a certain southern circuit on an MSA race day, after another following driver went for an impossible gap that wasnt there, I personally watched it happen, and the touching wheels meant the lad got air-bourne at about 50mph, the resultant full frontal barrier crash meant the lad spent 2 months in hospital, the lower abdominal injuries are too graphic to describe here, it was awful for the lad and his parents, they retired from karting immediately, and he is now fortunately well recovered, but they cannot kart again .......the father quite rightly directly and professionally contacted the safety delegate at the MSA, and I'm now told the MSA allegedly brushed the whole episode under the carpet and literally didnt want to know on the basis that they had already safety inspected the circuit and its far safer than it was years ago, which I find highly concerning........ I do really feel for the parents, they tried their best in a professional manner, but just got nowhere.......yes motor sport is dangerous, we all accept that as licence holders, but the MSA should all learn from any "near-miss" and improve safety standards again, within reason.......just look at the Jules Bianchi accident in Japan, the FIA have reacted and improved safety standards further and almost immediately.

As a similar episode.....we also race and test at the very same southern circuit, and my 8 year old son rolled his honda cadet kart and smashed his right upper arm (the humerus bone) into 4 pieces when testing there in August 2014, requiring 2 days in hospital for an operation to re-set his humerus bone, and 3 months off karting.......it was a non-MSA testing accident where novice adults were being let out on the circuit with cadets, one big adult chap was spinning a lot, and he spun in front of my son, my son couldn't avoid him, and the laws of physics meant my son went air-bourne instantly, the landing shattered his right upper arm, generally mullered him, his helmet and the kart....... a few days later I went back to the circuit owner confidentially and professionally to air my opinion on why this happened with facts, with photos of my son in hospital, which got the message across, and within 6 weeks I had an assurance from the circuit owner (in writing) that adults will never be on the track with cadets in session'd weekend test sessions, job done, and we are all still friends, and I am eternally grateful to to the circuit owner for actually listening to me and reacting so professionally.

My overall point being, that people do sometimes listen eventually if you deal with them in the correct professionally way and with facts, but not first publicly slamming them on a forum or on face book..... so I will be watching this one at PFI, it will be interesting to see if anything changes, how people approach it, with or without the MSA's involvement......
