I looked at a new kart to the other day clamped onto a flat bed by the axle and i could twist the chassis by grabbing the pinions and twisting with little effort.

I read some article somewhere that talked of a design philosophy change in the 00's whereby the manufactures went from stiff chassis with soft 40mm axles to soft chassis with stiff 50mm axles. The benefit to the manufacturer is the chassis needs to be replaced more often. The benefit to the competitor is it doesn't 'bog' as easily or 'releases' more readily.

So another thing to blame rotax for. Chassis life.
