Can only agree with Banzai and others but thats Motorsport in General, so thats why my multiple club championship winning and seeded nationally son and myself decided along with Paul Taylor of MBKC to set up a Saturday Karting Acadamy last year. This was for complete novices up to Jnr as most Seniors seem to know know everything or their parents/mates do!!
From one newbie it expanded rapidly with Bambinos,cadets (Comer,Honda and Parilla and Jnrs. They had their own dedicated parking space,awnings, the willing services of many club members and a top race team ,a driver tutor and 2 top engine builders.If a newbie had no gear he or she, as the girls were out there as well would be kitted out and provided with a full MSA kart for Ł5 a session until they or the Acadamy could source value for money kit usually however found through club members..
This gave the club a feeder into their MSA racing and lots of new members,and fees the only drawback was the club only operates on the 4th Saturday/Sunday of the month as they hire the track.
So impressed with the Acadamy's success the MSA allocated one of their IAME cadet Scholarship karts which now has its 2nd newbie on board for a full supported season in MSA as the previous driver has moved up to Mini Max.
So some people out there are putting something back but as the thread goes not a lot of people are encouraging newbies in fact some attitudes when they do ask around the paddock are negative,but how quickly does this change when they have a bundle of cash and ask around to start karting.
