I agree some clubs do try to run too many classes, but it is a juggling act for the clubs to make each meeting financially viable. But I do feel the msa need to make a rule where clubs have to give each class a minimum of 3x8 mins heats and a 12 min final that way with your 3 lap practice each competitor will get nearly 40 mins track time for there Ł50 or so entry fee.
Which in my opinion is good value for money
