I prefer the method chosen by 2 Counties Kart Club.

At one race last year, they offered gold, in the form of real quarter, half and full soveriegns as prizes for their race winners. Coincidentally It was a visiting race to Clay Pigeon.

At their annual prize giving they gave away gold bars (2.5, 5 and 10 grams) to the winners of the annual trophies instead of the token permanent trophies most of us keep on a shelf in the garage.

But back to Clay. I like the idea.
