Anything has to be better than it was before though. The amount of times I've seen mechanics / dads telling their driver, in a very strong aggressive manor 'don't waste time, just bump him out the way and get on with it', that's not racing, that's cheating.

I cannot see how these bumpers can be worse than it was before. I mean there were times when half the grid was being 'loaded' up from the back into the first corner, can you honestly say that you want to go back to racing like that?
