I can see some merit in having to qualify to enter the British Championship but not convinced that restricting entry to the top 3 in club championships would mean that `only the best kids could enter'.
It would be harder to qualify at a club with grids of 30+ than at one with grids of 10 or less. It might boost some club grids if drivers changed clubs to give themselves a better chance but then some drivers could compete at 4 clubs to improve their chances.
Are you sure that the top 3 from your club would want to do S1? Nothing to stop them from entering now.
