I think its a possibility yes.......but if you know what you are doing, you can simply dial out the extra grip from the SL3 tyre by running reverse castor.......we actually did this back in 2016 on our 2016 Synergy frame which had 22 degrees of castor as standard, same as the 17 and 18 frames had, running a touch of reverse castor was standard practice even back then........the 19 synergy frame only has a touch more castor, so no big deal.

Yes I'm sure all the chassis manufacturers will soon tell you you MUST buy a new 2020 frame cos its faster........to their credit the chassis manufacturers were directly involved in throwing out the manky SL2 and re-introducing the SL3........so credit where credit is due........but......

We ran our 16 Synergy frame in 2017 on the new SL2 tyre, and in Clubman at bayford and buckmore we were front running, and got 16 podiums and several wins that year, but only Clubman, not full cadet......but I was always convinced I was being a cheap-skate and the 16 frame was not optimum for the new SL2 tyre and it was holding back his lap times, so around september 2017 I got a brand new 17 synergy frame, still in the wrappers.......after running it for the next 4 months I can honestly say it did nothing to our lap times, no faster or slower!!!!......still won and got podiums though

Im sure all the BS will start flowing soon that you need a new 20 frame for the new SL3 tyre........all I can say is just go testing and be careful what you listen to.......test yourself and find the results........running reverse castor is the easiest solution to remove grip for zero cost.

The main stumbling block may come getting the rear to release........the SL2 type frames have a lot more grip build into the rear of the chassis via different tube layouts, and that may be where a new frame is required........I'm just pleased we kept our 16 frame!.......its the one thing I never chucked out for the pikeys!
