So an ICC rig is about GBP5,000 and a Formula Blue's in the region of GBP4,000. That's a long way from an all-in season of GBP1,500.

Listen, my aim is not to put people off. I am well aware that its possible to do karting on a shoestring now more than ever. You can pick up a second hand TKM /2 on eBay for GBP350 and do a bit of non MSA racing [meaning no licences etc...] local to where you live pretty cost effectively.

My point is that to be in a position to win a competitive club championship [like Senior Max], you're looking of the order of Andrew's estimates. To win a competitive national championship, you're looking at several times that. Speak to anyone at the business end of Stars or Super 1 and they'll coroborate that. You will not win those championships on a budget of GBP1,500 to GBP3,000.
