unless THEORYS have changed since i was at tech school detonation or "pinking" is caused by the primary flame front moving too quickly accross the combustion chambre. This increases pressure in the chambre too quickly and sets off an opposing or secondary flame front which makes the charactoristic rattle. This is why high compression engines have to have higher octane fuel ,to slow the rate of burn, but as kart engines dont come anywhere near this sort of ratio then octane boosters/high octane fuel are a waste of hard earned.Besides which {I dont know about max}but for sure tkm and cadet are limited to the amount of ignition timing advance that you can legaly have and even at max advance youre NEVER going to get detonation.
