Try to establish your weakest section on the track you are testing at. You may find a few setup changes may help you in this area of the track. For example you may find a hairpin you are slow out of and lose 2 tenths but gain back those 2 tenths down a long straight. By splitting up the track into sectors you will see what effects your changes are making. You may gain 1 tenth in your gearing at the hairpin and lose nothging down the straight. Alway write down your laptimes and sector times and what setup you had. Sometimes you see things when you study your data at home that are not always apparent when you are at the track. Also don't be too disappointed if your times are slower on a practice day due to the track not having much rubber down.
