It sounds like you don't know very much about karting. That's nothing to be concerned about, we were all in the same position when we started.

So, let me begin. Engine-wise what you have is a 25-30 year old, full race, rotary valve 100cc 2-stroke motor which was discontinued in the early 1980s. Like all its peers of the time, it developed a lot an enormous amount of power for its capacity but the downside was fragility and reliability. Under normal racing conditions, they would be revved to between 17,000 and 20,000 rpm and the running time between rebuilds would be about 2.5 hours.

If you plan on running this, you need to assume that it would have been raced prior to your buying it AND that the internals are at the end of their life. If you don't, you risk blowing it to bits.

It sounds like you want something for a bit of fun in Tilbury. What you have is the wrong thing. I would suggest that you put the motor on eBay because its in demand in the historic karting community... and that you get yourself a TKM BT82 instead. It will be way more reliable - parts are easy to come by and you'll pick a decent one up for less than GBP200 on eBay. You'll probably get almost that for the Hewland Arrow if/when you sell it on eBay.
