We could face a serious drop off in activity with the downturn. Let's not forget that a lot of people financed a lifestyle above/beyond what their disposable income allowed by taking equity from their homes. This, and many other routes to access cash have been closed off... and if we factor in that people are loosing their jobs too... it doesn't bode well for karting.

I agree that we should look at longer life tyres [if nothing else other than to help my ribs :-)] but we also need to look at more radical options that would make karting affordable for the person who used to spend GBP10K/year and now can probably stretch to GBP1K - GBP1.5K /year. Tyres alone won't do that.
