12.7 volts is ideal battery condition but higher than this the better remember that you are going to loose some power especially this time of year when you are cranking at a much lower ambient temperature. Forget about trying to charge your battery if its gone lower than 9.0 volts chances are that it wont take a proper charge unless you use a high voltage charge to get it back to life and dont try to charge it this time of year in your garage if tis lower than 3c
