When I was little, my Dad set my kart firstly to understeer terribly (can't remember how, probably just wet the tyres or something) and told me to do ten laps. Then he set it to oversteer terribly and told me to do ten laps. Then he said something along the lines of "now you know the symptoms, go and tell me why you are slower than everyone else!". I worked a treat.
