Many will be 'nipping' the fuel line.
TKMs do not run well slowly: they 'flood' (because the carb's a JOKE!). If you DON'T use a clutch, you can deliberately starve your motor of fuel to the point where it stalls, the direct drive will re-start it the moment you UN-nip the fuel line. However, you will now arrive at the line with a CLEAN motor while the others are coughing and spluttering away in clouds pof their own, flooded-engine smoke!
Other do it by adjusting the jet to run weak on the rolling lap and may be returning it to the RIGHT setting as they cross the line.
Other silly people mis-read all this hand-over-carb lark as 'choking': they copy what they THINK they have seen and get it WRONG! Tee hee!
