Whatever ELSE you do.... do NOT buy a kart BEFORE you have been to at least 3 races at your local track. Some classes are not even DRIVEN at all local tracks; some tracks BAN two strokes (and thus Rotaxes) etc..

It's NOT like taking up football where thre same ball size is used throughout the land/world. We are a MUCH more subtle hobby!

The Rotax Max is a perfectly acceptable kart and you MAY be able to get one for under £1000. That's actually a bigger budget than I was expecting you to say. I personally do not LIKE the Rotax as it is NOT what you will be TOLD that it is. The key point is that you will be told that ALL the engines are equal..... THEY ARE NOT!

Others here (the majority) will tell you it's the best class EVER ..... there's no accounting for taste .....

Anyway.... TRUST US! Go and SEE B*E*F*O*R*E you BUY!

Ian
