Hi Gary,
Remember that a new engine [out of the box] has a large piston gap. That is to say the Rotax people set a small piston in the cylinder to increase the lifetime of the motor before a rebuild is necessary. A larger piston gap requires a greater fuel quantity to "seal" this larger gap. This is one of the reasons different engines require completely different main jets.
