Sorry - another in my line of newbie questions.

How sharp should rotax brakes be? Ie, when you hit them hard should they virtually instantly lock the wheels or slow you gradually/quickly?

I only ask because mine have non-worn pads on them and seem ok to look at but don't seem to slow the kart that fast even when really trodden on.

Having only been out once, of course, it may well just be my driving.

I know it's a stupid question but something that's impossible to know having no grounds for comparison.
