I was once practicing and i lost most of the engine power it wouldnt pick up at all. when i got home i took the engine of and found the pulse pipe has split i replaced it with one from zip north and it was back to normal not sure about using fuel pipe as jack said the pulse pipe is quite stiff and fuel pipe is very flexible. dont know if this helps but that was my experiance with a split pulse pipe.
