I agree with you 100%. I can afford to pay Ł800 to get a motor rebuilt and an 09 cylinder fitted. This is a pretty low price to pay if it means that we start to get a level playing field.

As the 09 barrels are CNC machined the differences between the barrels will be a heck of a lot less than what we currently see with the casting method.

I do feel sorry for the guys that have spent thousands on buying pedigreed motors (But not really!) I am one of them to a certain degree. :-(

Just leaving the situation as it is is not acceptable. The reson this all came about was not so much about leveling the playing field but because the 08 barrels were so crap and no one wanted them. My motor has been lying at an engine builder since March as the good 02 barrel that was on it is oversize and cannot be raced. I could have had an 08 barrel fitted but what was the point.

At least this way everyone can have a chance of playing with the faster drivers if their talent allowes it. No more cheque book racing. (This will still happen but I suspect the gap between the fast and not so fast will be considerably less than what it is now and that must be a good thing.
