Ah! The bone doctor. Brian Simpson has a great reputation amongst bike racers (who tend to break bones quite often). Hopefully your boy will be back racing again soon.
As for the ZIP front bumpers - why are they still legal? Is it ZIPs influence with the MSA? Or is it that there is no shape specified in the regs?
Looking at the Blue book I can see no rule regarding the shape of the bumper. Yet my sons kart failed scrutineering because of a wedge shaped front bumper (guess I should have contested it).

A possible ray of hope is at the end of K.154...
"CIK Crash-Tested and Homologated bodywork will be mandatory for the Cadet Class for newly homologated chassis from 1st Jan 2010." So new karts next year may be a bit 'safer'. Not much use for the existing karts though.
