If there's an accident, then your kid should slow down. The other kid may be hurt, may step out of the kart, a marshall may cross the track etc... Telling your kid to keep his or her foot in would be an irresponsible thing to do. I was involved in a very serious accident a long time ago when a kid kept his foot flat to the floor and t-boned another kart at around 80mph. Both kids were very seriously injured and were lucky to survive it.

We must never loose sight of the fact that karting can be very dangerous and we all rely on those around us to act responsibly when an accident happens.
