This is an email I received from John Ryan of MSA regarding the Zip Storm Bumper.I have the registration form showing approval drawing and photos of bumper if anyone wants it emailed.
Dear David,
Thank you for your emails regarding the Zip Storm front fairing.
The MSA Kart Technical Group approved the use of the Zip kart front fairing (registration form attached) back in 2007. The approval was given on the basis that if any safety issues occurred the registration could be cancelled.
To date we do not have any factual evidence that demonstrate the fairing in question to be a hazard when used as shown in the form. However we have received concerns that when the front fairing has been involved in prior impacts it can change the fairing into an undesirable wedge shape which should not be used and can create a ramp hazard. We will be adding this concern as an item in the Scrutineers new letter and have asked Zip to report on this matter urgently.
I hope your son makes a full recovery and in the mean time if you have any photos or video relating to this incident please may you forward them onto me.
