When Rotax launched their first 100cc it was far superior to anything offered by anyone else. Around Mondello it was worth almost 2 seconds a lap ! Every motor was rendered obsolete overnight. The others did catch up... but Rotax had it their own way when they came out with that motor.

The same happened in gearbox karting but nobody did catch up and Rotax were peerless for a very long time.
