I doubt it's about the speed, although possibly is to some juniors, but I think to most of them it is about competitive racing.
If what you say about TAG TKM is true, and they aren't competitive with non TAG then I think that will die as well. It seems the only solution to falling numbers in karting is to introduce another class. Easycart, Formula Blue, KF etc. all came along to make cheaper, fairer karting. This, however would need people to give up their investment in their current class to change to the new class, which isn't going to happen, the same as people are unlikely in large numbers to change to TAG TKM.
