When Alan says... "they are mostly even." He means new ones I think. i.e 09 Barrels.

09 Barrels have definately evened the playing field. He is also quite right handling and set-up are the main key.

I would say if you had 2 engines, you could run a whole season of Race days on the best one, and use the 2nd best for all testing. I would say in a "perfect world" you would have 3 engines, 2 good and 1 test, but thats hardly budget racing is it.

Tyres are a tricky one, as they depend on the circuit. Some circuits (the track that is) demand new rubber but it does change from circuit to circuit.
