The whole problem for the TAG motor started with it being rev limited by the different ignition system. In order for it not to be slower at the end of the straights, a smaller axle sprocket was needed, which in turn meant that it would be slower in the first half of the straights, which he is now trying to compensate for with the compression raise.
The problem now is that there are so many different combinations of engine, weight and restrictor, that it simply beggars belief that they will all perform equally at all points of all tracks. He clearly feels that the TAG is the future, so the odds are it will have been arranged so that its generally the quickest option.
