Just bought a old Rotax Rotory Valve air cooled engine. Took it out for the first time today, it was running sweet but after about 10 laps it locked and seized and then lost all compression.

After taking the head off I can see that the cylinder and piston is badly scored. Im wondering if I may have run it too lean on the high jet?

What do you think may have caused it and what work will need doing?

Can anyone reccommend a good engine builder in the essex area?

Thanks in advance.
