Two things to add to Itpro's advice.

The weight distribution is a very personal thing. So once you have driven the kart, try moving the seat to a different position. I measured a champion's weight distribution the other day and it was 62% rear.

He tried my kart (58% rear) and was a second a lap quicker than me.

As for packing spacers, Tabor used to have packing spacers in all lengths from 10 mm to 80mm. They certainly know where they can get them if they aren't in stock.
