Just to dip my toe in, do I understand correctly.
Some drivers like to use, shall we say rather too much curb, consequently they want to use chassis protectors so they don't trash their chassis every weekend.
So under the pretence of safety, chassis protectors are banned. As an easier option than proactively policing the circuit limits.
Unfortunately this also penalises those who use chassis protectors because they want to keep a chassis for several seasons and avoid damage from the occasional unintended excursion.
Ultimately nobody gains anything, but everybody loses because of those who want to cheat by effectively taking short cuts and those who for whatever reason can't or won't enforce the regs.
